Hawaii state park camping permits now available online

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A trip to your favorite campsite can now start with a trip to a new web site.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) launched a new online reservation system for camping and lodging permits in Hawaii state parks.  For the first time, you can check availability online and pay for permits by credit card.

The DLNR says mail-in permit requests will be discontinued but you can still pay in person at district offices.

Meanwhile, State Park fees are increasing by more than double in some cases.  The DLNR says this is the first fee increase in ten years. The new rates went into effect March 8, 2010. Below, you'll find a chart comparing costs from last year to this year.
