HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - In the Merrie Monarch office, right next to the Edith Kanakaole Stadium, cultural practitioners and skilled masters of Hawaiian descent are putting on a cultural showcase for their own craft.

The PIHA (Perpetuating Indigenous Hawaiian Artists) Native Hawaiian Art Show is more than fine paintings and culturally significant woodwork. Some of the pieces, so important to the Hawaiian presenters that they are not allowed to be photographed, are generations old and worthy of any museum display.

Opens at 9am, closes at 8pm.
