US Airways cutting Honolulu-Charlotte non-stop flight

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – US Airways is canceling the first-ever non-stop airline service between Honolulu and Charlotte after the summer travel season, according to company sources. The rising cost of jet fuel is said to be a factor in the decision to eliminate the 10-hour flight.

The last flight on the route is scheduled for September 7. The company indicates that the route may be resumed on a seasonal basis at a later date. US Airways began non-stop service between Charlotte's Douglas International Airport and Honolulu International Airport in December.
