WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - In it's biggest loss in a series of disputes over labor practices, the Pacific Beach has been ordered to rehire Ruben Bumanglag, Darryl Miyashiro, Virginia Recaido, Virbina Revamonte and Rhandy Villanueva, all of whom were fired in 2007.
U.S. District Judge Michael Seabright is enforcing injunctive relief as the National Labor Relations Board continues to investigate the longest list of unfair labor practice charges ever leveled against a single local hotel.
Since the death of its founder and the ascension of new management, the Pacific Beach has been accused of ignoring union elections, firing union activists, bargaining in bad faith, and repeatedly changing management contractors to force employees to re-apply for the jobs they already perform.
Since the NLRB is still reviewing the case, the hotel could win further rulings on some of the charges against it.
