HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Central Pacific's new chief executive John Dean says chief financial officer Dean Hirata is resigning to pursue other interests. When Central Pacific acquired rival City Bank in 2004[, Hirata came from City Bank to become CFO of the combined operation. He was credited with merging the two banks' cultures.

The American Savings Bank Tower and the rest of Bishop Square is for sale. The California public employees retirement system is selling it. Commercial real estate insiders think the Shidler Group will buy it. It's worth 200 million dollars.

New York investors have bought Hawaii Raceway Park in Kapolei. The buyer paid off the 13-million-dollar-mortgage, racing around a foreclosure auction procedure that had Alexander & Baldwin as high bidder. Either way, the land won't be a raceway. It's too valuable for development.

The local health insurer HMAA has its own app for an iPhone. It allows HMAA members to find member doctors' offices. The app was developed by Reynold de Guzman, who works for HMAA's claims administrator.
