HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Democratic candidates in the race to be Hawaii's next Lieutenant Governor showed their love for politics Saturday, taking part in speed-dating... political speed-dating that is.

All six Democratic candidates showed up at the event, held at Ward Warehouse in Kakaako.

The audience sat in six circles and the candidates rotated from group to group, answering their questions.

"This is fun, and what it does... what we're trying to do... for me my personal belief is that legislators and all elected officials are really decent people. And they work hard, very, very hard and I hate it when I read the comments and the blogs that they're corrupt and evil when they don't care about the public, and all they want to do is just make money. That's not the case", said Arvid Youngquist of the Hawaii Progressive Democrats.

Progressive Democrats of Hawaii hosted the speed-dating event.

Organizers say under this format, the audience can get up close and personal with the candidates.

And, they say the candidates tend to give fresh and unrehearsed answers.
