Howard's Hit: Airline Arrivals

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Arrivals by air are rising a bit more this month. Howard has an update and more of our business news.

2010 arrivals will hit 1.5 million today. We're ahead of last year at the same point by 15,000 people. Mainland traffic is down to Oahu, up to neighbor islands. Japanese traffic is still up 9.5 percent from last year.

Some good news from the bond market. Fitch Ratings is affirming its A-rating on Hawaii airport bonds. The better rating, the lower the interest rate when borrowing, the lower the cost to taxpayers when airport improvements are made.

Maui Land & Pineapple will sell its remaining pineapple trucks, trailers, forklifts, compressors and other stuff in an auction one week from today - Maui Beach Hotel. Ulupalakua Ranch set up a company to grow some Maui gold but on a smaller scale.

Hawaiian Dredging has won a more a one hundred million dollar contract to build a Salvation Army center in Kapolei.

Business Week does a list of good business schools. Last year the business school at UH didn't even make the list. This year, with 111 schools on the list, it ranked 99th.
