MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The University of Hawaii softball team (18-9) won the 2010 Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament with a 4-1 victory over DePaul (11-8) Sunday at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Sophomore Stephanie Ricketts earned her third win in the tourney and was named the tourney's Most Outstanding pitcher, and freshman center fielder, Kelly Majam was named Most Valuable Player after hitting .375, scoring seven runs with a double, and three home runs this week.
Ricketts (8-5) scattered seven hits and gave up just one run in her 11th complete game off the season. She did not walk any batters and struck out four in her 16th appearance.
The ‘Bows conclude their non-conference schedule next week with the Chevron Spring Fling Tournament, featuring No. 13 California and Lipscomb from Mar. 17-20.
