Free workshops offered for high school students on furlough Fridays

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Looking for something to do on Furlough Fridays? Students at Chaminade University have found a way to keep people busy.

They've set up Furlough Friday workshops, free of charge for high school students. But it's not just another lecturing class. The students are taken to some of Hawaii's most prominent businesses. Friday's workshop was held at Sopogy's headquarters in town. It was geared toward science and technology enthusiasts. Previous workshops have been held here at HawaiiNewsNow and at the state capitol.

"It's a real nice opportunity for them to continue their learning experience but in an on site kind of environment," said Darren Kimura, CEO of Sopogy.

Event organizers say the sessions also provide students with exposure to job opportunities and business contacts. To reserve a spot or for more information please contact:
