SEATTLE (HawaiiNewsNow) - The BYU-Hawaii men's basketball team and the HPU women's team are both scheduled to play in the NCAA Division II national championship tournament Friday in Seattle.
The Sea Warriors women's program began just four years ago. This season, it became the first Division II team from Hawaii to win the PacWest conference title and qualify for the national tournament.
The Sea Warriors (18-6) face Seattle Pacific University (24-3) at 5:30 PM (HST) Friday. HPU is seeded 8th in West Region. The Falcons are the top seed.
The Seasiders (20-5) also play Seattle Pacific University (22-5). Tip-off of their first round game is scheduled for 10:30 AM (HST) Friday.
BYU-H struggled with injuries early in the season, but ended the season with a 13 game winning streak.
The Seasiders are seeded 6th in the West Region while the Falcons of Seattle Pacific are seeded 3rd.
