Tim's Sweet Maui Onion flavor snack products recalled

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Tim's Cascade Snacks is recalling certain code dates of two products: Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips in Sweet Maui Onion flavor as well as Hawaiian Sweet Maui Onion Rings. They could be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children and others with weakened immune systems.

No illnesses have been reported, according to the Algona, Washington-based company. The products were distributed nationwide and in Canada through retail stores, distributors, direct delivery and Internet sales. They were sold as individual bags and as components of packs, including variety packs.

Customers who have purchased Sweet Maui onion chips and Hawaiian Sweet Maui onion rings are being asked to return them to the retail outlet from which they purchased them for a full refund.

The following code dates are effected:

Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips in Sweet Maui Onion flavor: code dates March 0910 up to and including June 0710 in sizes 1 oz., 1.5 oz.,2oz., 5oz., 8oz., 18 oz., 32 oz., 70 grams, 210 grams and 908 grams.

Hawaiian Kettle Style Potato Chips in Sweet Maui Onion flavor: code dates March 2310 up to and including June 2110 in sizes .75 oz., 1.5 oz., 4 oz. and 42 grams.

Some of the recalled products were distributed to Hawaii. The company says that all products that are currently on the shelves are safe.
