New animation studio brings projects to Hawaii

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu's film industry is growing, especially with the opening of a new production studio that's expected to bring several exciting projects to the state. Dan went to check it out.

Entrenched, Inc. is a Toronto-based production company with credits including Nine®, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything™-A VeggieTales Movie®, Everyone's Hero®, IMAX 3D Spacestation®, Nascar 3D®, Cyberworld®, Game Over® and X-Men®. On February 11, it opened a production studio, Hawaii Animation Studios (HAS), right here in Honolulu.

Eager to work on numerous production projects here, Entrenched plans to set down strong roots and grow the industry in Hawaii. They see themselves as a part of the growth of the Hawaii film industry.

"We're very excited to be here, and look forward to an exciting, long-term future here in Hawaii," said Dan Krech, one of 4 partners at Entrenched, Inc. and HAS. "We are already working with Big Idea Entertainment, the leading faith-based studio and producer of children's and family programming, characters and brands, on an all-new multi-production deal, and we have some local members on our team, and plan to grow our local talent base."

"We're thrilled to partner with Entrenched at such an exciting time," said Leslie Ferrell, General Manager for Big Idea Entertainment. "We're confident a fresh crop of VeggieTales will grow out of Hawaii, and continue to bring the timeless and delightful adventures, lessons and songs to viewers around the world."
