KALIHI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The man charged in the deadly shooting of a Honolulu attorney last year is in more hot water. Police on Wednesday arrested Daniel Kahanaoi, 45, for allegedly stabbing a corrections officer at the Oahu Community Correctional Center.

Kahanaoi is accused of approaching a 52-year-old sergeant who was working at his desk and stabbing him multiple times. Investigators say the victim managed to subdue the suspect with the help of witnesses.

The sergeant was reported to be in good condition.

Kahanaoi is being housed at OCCC while awaiting trial for the murder of defense attorney Craig Kimsel. Investigators say the suspect went to Kimsel's house in Kailua to look for his ex-girlfriend, who was hiding upstairs, and opened fire on the lawyer.

He has not yet been charged in connection with the jailhouse incident.
