Toyota's president testifies today

WASHINGTON, D.C. (HawaiiNewsNow) - Amidst growing outrage and dwindling faith in his company Toyota's president Akio Toyoda will testify on Capitol Hill on Wednesday before a congressional panel. He has already prepared a statement in which he says:

We pursued growth over the speed at which we were able to develop our people and our organization, and we should sincerely be mindful of that.

"Shame on you, Toyota, for being so greedy," said Rhonda Smith, who experienced sudden acceleration on her Toyota.

"We will look at all the information, all the data," said Transportation secretary Ray LaHood. "We will not rest until we finally find out if electronics are a part of this problem."

Lawmakers warn they are looking for more than just an apology. Toyota says the problems do not stem from the electronics in its vehicles. House investigators found 70% of complaints were for vehicles that were not even part of Toyota's recalls.
