Soldier from Ewa Beach killed in Afghanistan

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Pentagon announced Tuesday that a soldier from Oahu was killed in action in Afghanistan. 27-year-old Pfc. JR Salvacion of Ewa Beach died Sunday at Senjaray, Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

Salvacion was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. The unit is based at Fort Carson, Colorado.
