KAHUKU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Six million dollars will soon be flowing to Kahuku to help prevent flooding. Kahuku High and Intermediate Schools have dealt with flooding problems for years. During heavy rains, the athletic fields end up underwater and buildings get soaked.
Senator Daniel Inouye says he's known about the problem for years and it takes time to work out the funding details. But now he says the school will get six million dollars to pay for flood barriers.
"I can say it's on good hands, I'm the chairman of the committee" said Senator Inouye.
Inouye expects the money to be released sometime next year.
