Valentine's Day: Yard House

(HawaiiNewsNow) - Valentine's Day is all about romancing your sweetheart. What better way to do that than with a seductive menu filled with aphrodisiacs? The Yard House has a menu-ful of just that.

Yard House Valentine's Day Menu

  • Friday-Sunday
  • Aphrodisiacs a la Carte
  • First come, first serve

The movie Leap Year, starring Amy Adams, turns the tables on tradition by giving women "permission" to propose marriage on February 29th according to an old Irish custom. While 2010 is not a leap year, women can still take the lead by asking their significant other to join them Valentine's Day weekend, Friday, February 12-Sunday, February 14 at Yard House in Waikiki Beach Walk on the island of Oahu – a favorite dining destination for men – for a romantic meal of aphrodisiacs (marriage proposals optional).

Executive Chef and Partner Carlito Jocson has created a playful and seductive menu using aphrodisiacs, which is available for both lunch and dinner on February 14 at all Southern California locations. While the award-winning restaurant offers call ahead seating, impromptu couples can just stop in anytime as no reservations are needed.

Chef Jocson, a father of four, knows a bit about the affects of aphrodisiacs and has been busy behind the kitchen door concocting some red-hot dishes for Southern California sweethearts. Enjoy a complete three-course, a la carte meal that includes a choice of appetizers, entrees and a seductive dessert.

Complementing the menu is the restaurant's vast selection of draft beer, signature martinis, impressive list of wine, Champagne and sparkling wine plus a tempting menu of spirits. In addition to the special Valentine's Day selections, Yard House's signature American Fusion cuisine, also laden with aphrodisiacs, will be available allowing guests to mix and match their courses as they choose. Yard House is also open for late-night kanoodling and dining.

Chef Jocson purposely selected foods with a reputation for arousing the libido, such as seafood and herbs. Many of the seasonings are also believed to ignite passion once ingested. Legend claims that truffles make women more yielding and men more amiable; ancient Egyptians priests abstained from onions because of their lusty reputation; and rice is a symbol of fertility, which explains why newlyweds are showered with grains. Besides food, beverages also have reputations for increasing the libido including beer. With Yard House boasting what is believed to be the world's largest draft beer system--100 to 250 handles--love is most definitely on tap.

While many restaurants have strict reservation policies on Valentine's Day, such as reserving tables with a credit card and charging cancellation and no-show fees, Yard House has taken the pressure off twosomes by seating all guests on a first come, first-served basis. In addition, guests also have the flexibility of ordering an entire meal or nothing more than dessert and coffee. Call ahead seating is also available as well as takeout.

Yard House is located at the Waikiki Beach Walk Complex at 226 Lewers in the heart of Waikiki. The restaurant opens daily at 11am for lunch, dinner and late-night dining. For more information, call the restaurant directly at 808.923.YARD (9273) or take a virtual visit at www.yardhouse.com
