Former President Clinton released from hospital

NEW YORK (HawaiiNewsNow) - Former President Bill Clinton walked out of a New York City hospital Friday. This comes just a day after he underwent an emergency heart procedure. He had complained of chest discomfort, and tests showed a clogged artery. Doctors inserted two stents, which look like mesh tubes, to restore blood flow. They say it doesn't appear Clinton suffered a heart attack, or that the blockage was a result of his diet. They've told the former president he can go back to work Monday.

"The procedure went smoothly. President Clinton has since been up and walking around. He's been visiting with his family," said Dr. Alan Schwartz, President Clinton's cardiologist.

Clinton underwent a quadruple bypass at the same hospital five years ago. Doctors say this latest procedure is very common and will significantly decrease his risk in the long term.
