HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine softball team is making final preparations for the season opener Thursday.

Conference coaches have picked Hawaii to finish third in the WAC. Coach Bob Coolen says it's always difficult to predict how a team will do and that's especially true this year.

The Wahine are young and Coach Coolen isn't sure what to expect.

"We only have four returning seniors and two juniors, one brought in, a JC and we haven't had a junior college player for 10-12 years. So our expectations are what are we all about and that's what we've got to find out," said Coolen.

Thursday is opening night of the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic in Manoa. The Wahine face McNeese State. If you can't catch it live, we'll have it for you on KFVE at 6:00 PM.
