Toyota to announce Prius fix

(HawaiiNewsNow) - Toyota is on the verge of announcing its next big fix. The world's top automaker sent letters to American dealers over the weekend, saying it would soon offer a plan to repair brakes on thousands of 2010 Prius hybrids. But whether a recall will be issued, still remains unclear.

More than a hundred drivers in the U.S. have complained of a short delay before their anti-lock brakes kick in. Toyota claims the problem is a software glitch that occurs when the vehicle switches power from gas to electric. The issue has been fixed, but only in vehicles sold since last month.

"It's a very weird sensation," said Prius owner Marjorie Juszcak. "It's a like a less of control."

"There's nothing broken, it's just something that they're enhancing," said Tammy Darvish, VP of DARCARS Automotive Group.

Toyota's safety issues have caught the eye of lawmakers. A congressional hearing is set for Wednesday to look into whether to auto giant acted fast enough.
