Most Maui homes now selling for less than $500,000

WAILUKU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Realtors Association of Maui reports 45 homes went to closing in Maui County in January, with the median price for homes falling below $500,000 as fewer offshore investors bought million-dollar properties.

But 71 condos went to closing for a median price of $424,000, a figure that real estate agents said was skewed higher by 65 sales at Konua Kai for an average price well above $1 million.

The association said there had been more home sales closing in December, and the thinking is that many sellers and buyers timed closings to occur in December for tax purposes.

More than half of home sales were in Kihei, Central or Pukalani while half the condo sales were on the West Maui coast above Lahaina.

Maui home sales currently average 224 days on market from list date to closing.
