EWA BEACH (HawaiiNewsNow) - She was paid to clean homes, but police say she stole from a couple in Ewa Beach. Miriama Asi is now on the run.

On July 16, 2007, an Ewa Beach woman was having her house on Aipoola Street cleaned by a company she had used for years. Miriama Asi was an employee training at the time.

"The victim went to her master bedroom and found Asi standing by her by a jewelry box," said Kim Buffett of CrimeStoppers. "She asked her what she was doing in there, and she said she was cleaning. Victim thought nothing of it."

Later that evening, police say the victim's husband returned home and discovered some of their jewelry had disappeared.

"The complainant's husband found several items missing, particularly rings," said Buffett."The victim herself found some rings missing. They contacted the cleaning company who approached Asi. One of the rings was returned."

Officers arrested Asi for 2nd degree theft. Now the 41-year-old is wanted for an $11,000 bench warrant, which was issued last October.

Asi is 5'11", weighs 195 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. Her tattoos include a peace sign, as well as "MD" and "Jay" on her right arm. She also has a scar between her nose and right eye.

"She does hang out in the Waianae area," said Buffett. "She has one prior conviction. That's for the theft. She does have several arrests."

Helping police catch her could earn you a reward of up to $1,000.
