KALIHI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Work is underway to remove two large boulders, five days after they crashed down a Kalihi hillside. Contractors were on the scene Wednesday morning working with jack hammers and other equipment to get the process going. The boulders rolled down the hill into the backyard of the Kalihi Valley apartment complex, on Friday. Amazingly, no one was hurt. As for the removal process, it should take a couple of days.

"What they're doing right now is they're actually breaking apart the rocks to smaller pieces where they can take it and haul it away from this area," Board of Water Supply, Moani Wright said.

It's still unknown what caused the boulders to fall down. But the board of water supply owns the property above the homes and says it's awaiting recommendations from geologists on how to prevent any further rock falls.
