High surf warning in effect for Hawaii

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A high surf warning is in effect for the state starting at noon today. The National Weather Service says surf along the west shores of the Big Island could reach heights of 10 to 15 feet. But the north and west shores of all other islands could reach 25 to 35 feet.

The high surf warning indicates that dangerous waves could also produce deadly rip currents, as well as pound the shoreline.

The high surf warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.
