Wanted Wednesday: David Babbs

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man with a long rap sheet is in trouble with the law again. David Babbs was convicted of assaulting a man and is now on the run.

October 26, 2008. A man was seated outside this starbucks coffee shop located at Huapala street and East Manoa road. Police say David Babbs sat down across from the victim talking to himself while drinking from a bottle in a brown paper bag.

"The victim was working on his lap top, Babbs got up, hit the computer screen, and then assaulted the complainant with a beer bottle," said Kim Buffett of CrimeStoppers.

Babbs hit the victim several times in the head before running away. Officers found him near the intersection of Loomis street and Lowrey avenue and arrested the 37 year old for second degree assault. But now Babbs is wanted for a $20,000 cash only probation revocation warrant.

"The warrant was issued December 22, 2009. He does have 37 prior convictions and he's known to frequent the Ala Moana and Honolulu areas," said Buffett.

Babbs is 5'9", weighs 130 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. "He also goes by the name of Ocatavious," said Buffett.

Helping police nab him could put up to $1000 in your wallet.

David Babbs is this week's Wanted Wednesday fugitive.
