Hundreds rally for funding for health and human service programs

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -- Hundreds of caregivers, special needs adults and children, and representatives from health and human services agencies rallied at the State Capitol Tuesday.

They were there to plead with lawmakers to find funding for what they call an "under served" population.

"I really think it's incumbent upon this legislative body to find those revenues," said PHOCUSED Hawaii CEO Alex Santiago.

Last year, dozens of agencies lost funding because of state mandated budget cuts.

Santiago said it adversely affected caregivers and the clients they serve.
