HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Na Hoku O Hawaii Music Festival is a four-day event that runs May 27-30, 2010 at Hawaii Convention Center.
Lifting the beauty of the Islands' beloved Na Hoku Hanohano Awards to a new level, the Na Hoku O Hawai'i Music Festival celebrates the underlying power of music to share the soul of our unique Hawaiian culture while touching the heart of our common humanity.
Regardless of diverse backgrounds, who did not get emotional on the evening of June 9, 2009, when watching the faces of the Na Hoku Hanohano awards artists, listening to their songs, and feeling the indelible strength of Hawaiian culture? The Music Festival will highlight what transpired further, providing a context to delve deeply into the essence of Hawaiian music, rooted as it is in a deep spirituality, a keen awareness of nature and life, singing the core of who the Hawaiians are, who they once were, and who they hope to be.
The four-day music festival honors Hawaiian culture while uniting with the world at large. It develops and augments a living knowledge of Hawaiian music, arts, and crafts through workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions and performances of the highest quality and authenticity.
The festival anchors in the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards Show and the traditional Lifetime Achievement Awards Luncheon, which honors individuals for their contributions of artistic and cultural significance.
By way of state-of-the art technology, the festival includes a broadcast of the Nä Hökü Hanohano Awards Show live in High Definition (HD) on a network affiliate and via the worldwide web. Just prior to the show, the Lifetime Achievement for five honorees will air in HD as a documentary capturing our vibrant culture for the entire globe to see.
