HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Starwood Hotels has filed new charges in its lawsuit against rival Hilton Hotels Corporation. Starwood, of course, is the parent of the Sheraton, Westin, St. Regis and 'W' brands.
Two of its executives quit and went to Hilton, apparently bringing boxes of papers on Starwood expansion plans. Hilton returned the boxes but apparently not for several weeks, and Starwood sued. In its new filing it charges that awareness of the situation went higher in the Hilton leadership, all the way to CEO Chris Nasseta.
Starwood charges corporate espionage. Hilton says it has cancelled plans for a new hotel brand called denizen that would be similar to Starwood's 'W' brand. The bitter battle is in a sharp contrast to Hawaii where Hilton and Starwood executives often lobby jointly for shared legislative goals.
