Pedestrian struck by car Thursday dies

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Honolulu man struck by a car Thursday afternoon has died from his injuries. 73-year-old Yui Tung Ng was hit by a car just after 3:00 PM Thursday at the intersection of Vineyard Boulevard and Aala Street.

Ng was transported to the hospital in serious condition, he died early Friday. The Medical Examiner's Office says the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Police have opened up a negligent homicide investigation against the 73-year-old woman who was driving the car. There is no word yet on whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Ng is the third pedestrian to die on Oahu streets so far this year.
