HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Simon Cowell will leave American Idol after this season. Cowell said that he will be on Fox next year on "The X Factor." He said it would have been difficult for him to do both shows. While he makes a reported $36 million a year to be on "American Idol," he owns "The X Factor" and could make much more if the show takes off. On Monday the chairman of the Fox Broadcasting Co. would not speculate on possible replacements for Cowell.
Fox News has confirmed that former Alaska governor Sarah Palin will become a regular contributor to the network in a multi-year deal. The former Republican vice-presidential candidate will not have her own regular program but will host an occasional series. Fox says Palin will "offer her political commentary and analysis across all Fox News platforms, including Fox Business Channel, FoxNews and Fox News Radio."
Fox executives have not talked to Conan O'Brien about moving to their network, but Fox employees have been in touch with the Tonight Show host's associates. Network entertainment president Kevin Reilly said Monday: "I love Conan personally and professionally. But right now he has a decision to make about his future. Until he makes that decision, there really is no conversation to be had, and we have not pursued it."
