Pedestrian and motorcyclist killed in Kona crash

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two Kailua-Kona men died Sunday afternoon when a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian on Alii Drive. Police say 50-year-old Dale Dyk struck 40-year-old Jaison Enriquez with his motorcycle as Enriquez was crossing the street just after 3:00 PM Sunday.

Both men were transported to Community Hospital, where they died. Dyk was not wearing a helmet and Enriquez was not in a marked crosswalk at the time he was struck.

Police believe that alcohol and speed were factors in this crash. Investigators also believe that Enriquez had been drinking.

Traffic Enforcement Unit officers have initiated a coroner's inquest and negligent homicide investigation and have ordered autopsies to determine the exact cause of death.
