HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A state deputy sheriff accused of molesting a child more than a decade ago pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday.

Edwin Salinda is charged with multiple counts of first-degree sex assault. He entered his plea in Circuit Court via video hookup from the Oahu Community Correctional Center.

A woman told investigators Salinda sexually assaulted her at least 30 times starting when she was six years old.

The suspect has been with the sheriff's division for about 18 years. He has been suspended.

The trial is tentatively set for March. Bail is set at $100,000.
