HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -- Hawaiian Airlines flight 17 boarded in Las Vegas bound for Honolulu.

Early Friday morning a disturbance happened toward the front of the Boeing jet.

"I was sitting on the left hand side of the cabin. The commotion was on the right side," passenger Reno Visitacion said.

The altercation involved a man and a woman.

"I had heard that a gentleman had gotten too intoxicated and was groping a young lady or a lady up front in the upper section of the plane," said passenger Tony Itsura.

The flight crew turned the plane around.

"Then we turned around, landed in Los Angeles, they handcuffed the guy, took him off the plane," Visitacion said.

LAX police told News Now the man is a 55-year-old Hawaii resident. He wasn't arrested but he was not allowed back on board.

"Air travel is already difficult enough. We don't need people making it worse or acting crazy," passenger Stacy Goodman said.

After the delay in Los Angeles.the Hawaiian flight arrived at Honolulu International Airport three hours late.

A six-hour flight turned into a nine-hour flight. But it's all for our safety so it's understandable," passenger Melissa Rarama said.

LAX police said the woman who was allegedly harassed is a 57-year-old resident of Guam.

The case was turned over to the FBI.
