HONOKAI HALE (HawaiiNewsNow) – Twenty-four hours after running aground, the 38 ft. sailboat Priscilla Mary was lifted out of the waters near the Kahe power plant. The vessel ran aground off the coast of West Oahu on Monday while it's passengers were snorkeling nearby. Investigators say the winds picked up and pushed the boat towards the shore.

The boat was tied off overnight and Monday morning a crane was brought in to lift the boat out of the water. It was then loaded onto a specialized tow trailer for transporting marine vessels.

The salvage company was able to inspect the damage once the boat's hull was exposed. Michael Parker from Vessel Assist did a quick inspection on site.

"It'll cost a lot of money to fix. The keel broke off and it's got a big hole in the bottom," Parker said.

The U.S. Coast Guard monitored the operation and reports it was removed without any complications. They also report there are no signs of any underwater damage.

The sailboat was transported to a boat yard in Kapolei.
