Lingle nominates former US Attorney Kubo to circuit court judgeship

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Governor Linda Lingle announced Monday afternoon her nomination of Ed Kubo to the to serve as a Circuit Court judge of the First Circuit (Oahu). Kubo served from 2001 to 2009 as US Attorney for the Hawaii district.

"Ed has been an exemplary public servant and an outstanding citizen who is committed to improving our community and I am confident he will continue to serve the public well as a Circuit Court judge" said Lingle in a statement.

Kubo's previous experience includes 11 years as an assistant US Attorney and nine years with the prosecutor's office for the City and County of Honolulu. He also had previous experience as a trial lawyer in a Honolulu law firm.

Kubo's appointment is subject to confirmation by the Hawaii state senate. If confirmed, he would fill the seat left vacant by Frances Wong, who retired last year.
