Wanted Wednesday: Michael Ahn

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - He's accused of trying to break into a Kailua home and now police need your help to try and track him down. Michael Ahn is the subject of this week's Wanted Wednesday case file.

October 1, 2009. A woman hears suspicious sounds coming from her neighbor's home on Wanaao road in Kailua.

"Witnesses heard a neighbor's gate rattling and the dog barking. She looked out of her window and she saw a male crouching down in the neighbor's yard," said Kim Buffett of CrimeStoppers.

Police say that man was Michael Ahn. The woman went outside to investigate.

"She went out to check on her neighbor's home and saw the same male climbing through a bedroom window and she called police," said Buffett.

The witness was also able to stop some strangers for help.

"She was able to flag down a passing vehicle and two males stopped to assist her. The males located the suspect and detained him until police arrived," said Buffett.

Officers arrested Ahn for first degree burglary. But he failed to appear for a hearing last month before his trial and is now wanted for a $25,000 bench warrant.

"He does hang out in the Aiea, Kaneohe and Honolulu areas and he has 10 prior convictions for forgery, theft 2, theft 3, harrassment and probation revocations," said Buffett.

The 31-year-old has tattoos including a skull on his left arm and a cross on his back. Ahn is 5'8" and weighs 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Helping police catch him could put up to $1000 in your wallet. Michael Ahn is this week's Wanted Wednesday fugitive.
