President Obama speaks about 'deficiencies' in air travel security

President Barack Obama President Barack Obama

KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) - President Obama started Tuesday with another address to the nation from the Marine Corps Base, Hawaii.

In his five minute address, he talked about problems discovered in the tracking of the Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a plane Christmas Day.

The president says that preliminary information in the investigation uncovered some missteps including information passed on to intelligence that didn't get him added to the "no-fly list".

"We've achieved much since 9/11 in terms of collecting information that relates to terrorists, and potential terrorist attacks. But it's becoming clear that the system that has been in place for years now is not sufficiently up to date to take full advantage of the information we collect and the knowledge we have" said Obama.
