HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - With just a few days until 2010, some Oahu residents are already pounding in the New Year like this Mochi pounding in Kapahulu. About 50 people took part in the annual event at the Matsushimu family home. They spent the day turning cooked rice into the sticky treat. Five generations of family members took part.

China has launched what it claims is the world's fastest train. China's state run media says that two trains each made 664 mile trips in three hours.Those trips used to take ten and a half hours. Trials of the new high speed train began on December ninth when the train reached a maximum speed of 245 miles per hour. Officials says the new train travels at an average speed of 217 miles per hour.
