Two skiers from Hawaii rescued in Aspen; stranded overnight

ASPEN (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two snow skiers from Hawaii are safe tonight after being stranded overnight on a mountain top. It began yesterday afternoon, just east of Aspen, Colorado where the couple was skiing and got lost.

One of them, Duc Ong, is Kalani High School math teacher used his mobile phone to call for help.

The local sheriff's office sent up a search team, but failed to find them.

"We just stayed in sleeping bags. We didn't have shelter or anything. We did have some cheese which helped a little bit. But just moving the whole time as to not get numb," said Ong.

The National Guard joined in the search this morning and with the use of a military chopper they were able to find them near Turquoise Lake early this afternoon, uninjured.
