One dead after motorcycle crash

HALAWA HEIGHTS (HawaiiNewsNow) - Speed is believed to be the cause in a deadly motorcycle crash on Oahu Saturday night.

Hawaii News Now was first on scene at the intersection of Halawa Heights Road and Iwaiwa Street.

Police say the motorcyclist struck a station wagon at about 6:30 Saturday night. The car then hit a wall.

Paramedics took the motorcyclist to the Queen's Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say a 16-year-old teenage girl was driving the station wagon, but is believed to have obeyed the law.

"We don't believe she ran it," said Lt. Darren Izumo. "It's possible the combination of the bend in the road and the speed of the motorcycle that she didn't see him coming."

Emergency Medical Services said the girl and two boys -- one under 13 years old and the other under 10 years old -- were all taken to Queens in critical condition.

EMS also said two other children were taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
