Surfing at Hookipa, Maui ThursdayHONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for eastern shores of all Hawaiian Islands. The advisory is in effect until 6:00 PM Sunday.
A low pressure system northeast of Hawaii has generated a swell which will produce surf above advisory heights along east facing shores exposed to north northeast swell. Surf along north facing shores will remain below advisory heights.
Surf along east facing shores exposed to north-northeast swell will rise to 8 to 10 feet Saturday then last through Sunday afternoon.
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
