HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Over two years of uncertainty came to an end Friday as Hawaiian Airlines and the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) announced a tentative agreement on a new five-year contract.

"We are pleased to have been able to achieve improvements in both pay and retirement for our members" said Eric Sampson, chairman of ALPA's Master Executive Council at Hawaiian.

The deal covers 418 pilots at Hawaiian. The airline has recently concluded negotiations with dispatchers and flight attendants, and also wrapped up a tentative deal with customer service staffers.

"We believe this agreement recognizes the important contributions of our pilots while allowing Hawaiian to continue to grow and add jobs" said Mark Dunkerley, president and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines.

The deal must still be approved by union membership, who will vote on the contract in the coming weeks.
