Small and pricey offerings await last-minute Christmas tree buyers

AIEA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Christmas tree stragglers had another chance to pick up a tree Friday. More trees went on sale at Specialty Holiday next to Best Buy.

The seller was able to bring in a little more than 100 trees anywhere from two to four feet tall. They admit that the trees weren't up to standards that customers saw a few weeks ago. But that didn't stop buyers.

Joni Wood was able to go home with a four-foot tree that cost $125.

"I asked my son if we could get a fake tree...if that would be OK? But he said he wanted a real tree. The smell, I think it's the smell, maybe. I asked my mom and she says it's because we don't get any snow here. It's more Christmassy" said Wood.

The owner says the high price is to recover shipping costs and the lack of supply.

And if you still don't have a tree, no worries. Specialty Holiday plans to get a second shipment of 240 trees that should go on sale around 2:00 PM Saturday.
