TAMPA, FL (HawaiiNewsNow) - The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball team lost its bid for a national championship Thursday night in Tampa, losing to Penn State three sets to one.
First set: Hawaii 25 - Penn State 23
Second set: Penn State 25 – Hawaii 18
Third set: Penn State 25 – Hawaii 15
Fourth set: Penn State 25- Hawaii 18
The 12th ranked Wahine team was largely considered the underdog to the powerhouse Nittany Lions at the matches in Florida. Hawaii hasn't taken home the title since 1987.
Penn State will face Texas in the championship match on Saturday.
