HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Pasha Hawaii Transit, the number three maritime shipping line to Hawaii, appears to be losing its bid to begin interisland car shipping.
Young Brothers had warned that letting Pasha cherrypick vehicle delivery would affect the cost of other interisland shipments.
The state consumer advocate recommends against Pasha but suggests it try again if it can better support an argument that such service is in the public interest.
The general rule is that more choices is better, but when stable service is essential, the issue often arises of whether a new player will destabilize a market.
New subject, earlier in the week I reported a very small increase in November traffic at Go-Mokulele. I want to correct that.
