HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - In this time of increasing need, the Hawaii Foodbank is getting a huge boost, thanks to some local National Guard training cadets. Originally the food was meant for Samoa but when the troop couldn't find a way to ship the food overseas they decided to give it to local families instead.
Teachers look for many creative ways to motivate their kids but this may take the cake. PTA mom Gretchen Bethiaune challenged her elementary school kids to collect 1000 items for a local Foodbank. She promised that she would shave her head if they did it. And the kids went crazy collecting some 1900 pounds and in return Miss Gretchen let the barber shave her head.
