TAMPA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The University of Hawaii Wahine volleyball team arrived in Tampa, Florida Monday. Tampa is the host city for this year's NCAA women's volleyball final four.
Third ranked Hawaii (32-2) faces number one ranked Penn State (36-0) in a national semi-final match Thursday. The winner advances to Saturday's national championship match.
Hawaii head coach Dave Shoji told Hawaii News Now the team got up at about 4 a.m. to catch a flight from San Francisco to Denver ... then Denver to Tampa.
"It's just nice to be here. It's warm. San Francisco, Palo Alto, was really really cold. In the 40's, so kind of thawing out. (It's) more like Hawaii here," Shoji said.
Shoji and his staff planned to view game tape of the Nittany Lions Monday night and then begin his game planning.
He said Penn State is a very good team, but "they're not perfect."
