Police searching for man who robbed Kona convenience store

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) – Big Island police are looking for a man they say robbed a Kailua-Kona gas station convenience store Friday night. According to police, a man with a handgun entered the Shell station on Kuakini Highway, demanded money and fled on foot towards Kopiko Plaza with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man is described as Caucasian, possibly in his twenties, about six feet tall, slim and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to call Detective Sean Smith at 326-4646, extension 275, or the Police Department's non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
