CAPTAIN COOK, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) – Firefighters responded to a house fire Thursday afternoon on Kinue Road in Captain Cook. No one was injured in the fire, although paramedics transported a baby to the hospital as a precaution.
The fire broke out around 12:45 PM. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 1:20 PM and declared the fire out just before 3:00 PM.
The fire was confined primarily to a storage area under the house, but flames wrapped around the outside to the top floor. There was substantial smoke and water damage to the interior along with moderate fire damage to the exterior walls and eaves.
Damage to the home was estimated at $150,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
