Business Report: Airline delays

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaiian Airlines is still the on-timest airline, based on October data just out. Alaska Airlines was second. This time Howard thought he would dig deeper into the data to see what interesting tidbits attracted his attention.

At LAX, Alaska has the best record, with 92 percent on-time arrivals, while Hawaiian is in the weeds at 72 percent. United has a surprisingly good record at LAX, 80 percent on time.

At SFO, a third of all flights are more than fifteen minutes late, again with United doing better than most. At Seatac, Alaska has an 85 percent on-time record that no one else touches except Delta.

Another interesting chart tracks on-time departures broken down by hour of the day. Every airport starts well and ends well but gets messed up in the afternoon. For example, at LAX, more than 90 percent of flights take off on time until nine a.m., but from 2 - 9 p.m. more than a quarter of flights are late.
